Superyachts – Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Lexus

Superyachts – from Lamorghini to Aston Martin, there are plenty of well known brands who have dabbled in the marine industry, all fighting to create the best super yacht. These super yachts aren’t popular just because of their luxurious exterior, but similar to super cars, they need to have some power behind them too. We have collated a review of some of the super yachts and luxury boats from top manufacturers, because we can all dream can’t we?

Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63

First on the list we have the newly announced Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63. With the bold colours and sleek design that truly captures the essence of Lamborghini’s products this has certainly caught our eye. This motor yacht was a collaborative effort, with inspiration from Lamborghini Sián FKP 37  (a hybrid super sports car) and with the contribution of Lamborghini’s Centro Stile.

Exterior:

The silhouette of the super boat mirrors Lamborghini’s supercar counterparts, with the smooth rounded exterior of the hull and cabin, the boat is the definition of luxury. The exterior style of the hull and superstructure is inspired by Marcello Gandini’s designs for the Lamborghini Miura and Countach cars of the 60s and 70s, but with a modern twist. In addition to this, the so-called ‘super-performing hull’ was designed by a team of naval engineers. All of whom specialised in the study of computational fluid dynamics. The hard top of the boat is inspired by Lamborghini’s roadster models, providing protection against the elements whilst simultaneously increasing the aerodynamic performance.

Interior:

All materials used in the interior were thoroughly researched, resulting in a high-tech design using materials assessed in terms of weight and functionality. This comes with the promise of high craftsmanship and the highly reputable Made-In-Italy guarantee. All colours and materials are customisable, so you can play around with every aspect of the interior until it fits you perfectly using the Ad Personam program.

Specifications:

This super boat comes with two MAN V 12 – 2000HP engines, resulting in top speeds of about 60 knots. The yacht measures 63 feet, and despite this and the dual engines, due to the carbon fibre hull and body, the boat is actually under the “ultra-lightweight classification at only 24 tonnes.

Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said: ”This yacht represents the significance of creating a valuable partnership, at its best: our co-operation allows the essence of both organisations’ style and expertise to be transferred to different worlds, sharing in their diversity to interpret and add value to the final product in a new environment. If I had to imagine a Lamborghini on water, this would be my vision. I’m delighted to celebrate this successful collaboration.”

Aston Martin AM37 powerboat

Next up, we have a less recent addition in terms of the powerboats introduced by world famous supercar brands. Aston Martin announced their 37-foot Aston Martin AM37 back in 2016, and it made its world debut at the Monaco Yacht Show. Aston Martin’s step into the nautical world was certainly done with style, and despite its announcement being four years ago, the AM37 is still a highly sought after super boat. After a mighty two years of research and development, Aston Martin released the AM37 and the AM37S.

Exterior:

Simple, elegant and expert craftsmanship are words which come to mind when looking at the exterior of the AM37. It is evident that every element of the boat’s exterior has been thought about. This is because of the collaboration between Aston Martin’s EVP & Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman and his design team with naval architect Mulder Design. The wraparound screen is created from a single piece of glass and creates a sleek, modern aspect to the boat. Functions have been added which allow for ease of use, including sliding deck technology which allows the owners to completely cover the cockpit with the touch of a button. In addition to this, there are three lightweight carbon panels, operated by the AM37 key, they fold under the aft deck when the cockpit is uncovered and a swim platform allows for easy access to the water. The helm’s carbon fibre dashboard mirrors elements from Aston Martin’s top of the range sports cars, with such luxury additions as fine leather and polished metals on the functional features, this boat is sure to turn an eye or two.

Interior:

While the AM37 is a day cruiser, you can transform the table into a comfortable bed, allowing for the capacity of an overnight berth if required. The interior of the cabin is extravagant, with mood lighting and even air conditioning. Other amenities include a refrigerator, microwave, a coffee machine and a lavatory onboard. The interior, similar to the exterior, features furniture crafted from the finest leathers, there is no denying how luxurious this boat truly is.

Specifications:

The AM37 has an estimated top speed of 45 knots and the additional choice of two 370 hp Mercury diesel or two 430 hp Mercury petrol engines. The AM37S on the other hand has an estimated top speed of 50 knots with twin 520 hp Mercury petrol engines. Both versions of the yacht measure 37 feet, with the boat’s navigation, control monitor and entertainment systems all integrated.

Reichman (Aston Martin’s EVP & Chief Creative Officer) commented: “AM37 is a pure translation of the Aston Martin DNA into an entirely new maritime concept. The powerboat reflects our values in terms of power, beauty and soul. The most important attribute for Aston Martin is the design language and proportion, we have transferred this DNA into AM37. It was important to us when considering this project to make sure that the boat design was as beautiful and timeless as our cars, the AM37 is a striking boat with fantastic proportion and elegance.”

Lexus LY 650

Lexus’s entry into the nautical world cannot be overlooked. The Lexus LY 650 measures a total of 65 feet, almost twice the size of the previous boats mentioned. With the promise of guaranteed exceptional performance, high quality craftsmanship and build in Toyota Production System this superyacht truly has it all. Announced in 2019, Lexus introduced an overwhelming contribution to the realm of nautical transportation. The Lexus LY 650 is praised as an innovative and unique addition to the nautical industry.

Exterior:

The LY 650 encompasses every aspect of Lexus’s luxurious designs, the smooth, rounded lines mirror their highly sought after luxury sports cars. The rounded shape of the hull, in addition to the abundance of space in the stern really emphasizes the aspect of hospitality, this boat is certainly one to show off. With an optional two tone colour scheme, metallic accents on the bow and side windows and the L-shaped air-intakes all truly capture the essence of Lexus’s high quality craftsmanship. The hull crafted from CFRP (carbon fiber-reinforced plastic) and GFRP (glass fiber-reinforced plastic) ensures the yacht is light yet durable, allowing it to reach high speeds. Each hull is hand-molded and custom painted. On the deck, the stainless steel deck fittings are all custom made for each vessel, with extensive custom fitted and custom finished real wood reim and hand sewn seat surface materials. The detailed and quality craftsmanship which has gone into the creation of every LY 650 is highly applaudable.

Interior:

Lexus’s LY 650 was built in collaboration with Italian yacht design studio Nuvolari Lenard, and this collaborative work has resulted in a truly unique and modern interior design. The design can only be described as advanced, with every feature of the living area having been carefully thought out, planned and executed with high quality found in every detail. This can be attributed to the fact that the interior also incorporates Lenard’s advanced design with omotenashi, a Japanese philosophy that places emphasis on hospitality that sincerely and warm heartedly anticipates and fulfills people’s needs. The result is a mostly white interior to give the impression of openness, yet utilising curved lines to create a sense of cosiness without being claustrophobic. The salon is expertly laid out, allowing for plenty of open space, and underneath three elegant berths can be found, with over two meters of headroom and each with a private shower.

Specifications:

The powertrain features twin Volvo Penta® IPS*3 engines (1350/1200/1050 HP). The LY 650 also has an array of piloting-support functions, including joystick control, fixed-point position-holding at sea, and an auto-flap function. Sandwich panels are also used throughout the yacht within the main walls, providing soundproofing qualities to ensure minimal disruption when hosting. In addition to this “LY-Link, an advanced technology for boat connectivity, shares and provides various information in a timely manner. The technology can be used to monitor the vessel and have notifications sent via text message should an abnormality be detected.” Not only this, but the LY-LINK allows you to use your phone to remotely control certain components of the yacht, such as the air conditioning and lights. The captain’s seat features touchscreen operation, creating a highly futuristic impression. The length of the yacht is an astonishing 65 feet and 5 inches, with the beam width reaching 18 feet 11 inches.

President Akio Toyoda commented: “The LY 650 symbolizes the challenge taken by Lexus, which aspires to be a true luxury lifestyle brand, to venture beyond the automobile. A collaborative team between Toyota and Marquis Yachts introduced the Toyota Production

System to the boat manufacturing facility to improve productivity and quality. This allowed the Lexus “CRAFTED” philosophy of anticipatory hospitality and meticulous attention to detail to become a reality in the form of a luxury yacht. I am truly looking forward to seeing the advanced, high quality LY650 display its beauty on the oceans across the globe. As a mobility company, we are pursuing new possibilities for mobility even on the sea.”
