PACEMAKER 21 – Built by Port Hamble circa 1963 1 of approx. 30-40 made – Twin Volvo petrol engines on sterndrives. 2 berth accommodation with sea toilet facility. Folding screens with a lovely varnished timber finish in the cockpit and surrounding deck space. A classic project. Construction gives flexibility to absorb a choppy sea. No bulkheads in the frame work of closely steam bent timbers with long bottom stringers. Bottom hull is planked with wide teak laced plywood strakes laid in reverse clinker fashion and copper clench fastened. The topsides are of a continuous scarph – jointed plywood sheets.

Comments

  • The foredeck, aft deck and  cabin sole are teak faced plywood and the wide decks and trim are varnished mahogany. The Cabin roof is a double skin construction with two layers of plywood separated by fore and aft beams. Air enters holes underneath the visor and is driven to the ventilator vents over the galley and in WC compartment.
  • Pacemaker 19 21 were introcduced in 1955 by Port Hamble Ltd on a design based on the famous Fairey Offshore Power launches and built with utile or mahogany hulls. The prototype was entered and placed in an early Cowes-Torquay offshore powerboat race.
