Once again the weather gods looked kindly on our 5th cruise of the season. 30°, sunny & light winds were the order of the day. 13 boats gathered at Berney Arms on Thursday morning. 6 boats were first timers and suffering the usual mix of nerves and excitement. After a quick briefing about the plans for the day we set off down Breydon Water in readiness for our 1000hrs Haven Bridge booking. We had a nervous wait when Haven failed to lift. Happily an engineer was soon in attendance and up the bridge went.
Once at sea we cruised at 18 knots. The sea state was lovely and the sun shone. Into Southwold and the fleet rafted together on the Blackshore quay and enjoyed a couple of relaxing days.
We departed Southwold on Saturday morning and made our way to Lowestoft. Although the sky was overcast it was pleasantly warm with a light north easterly breeze. The sun came out in the afternoon in time for a BBQ organised for us by the RNSYC.
We departed the following morning for the short run back to Great Yarmouth and onto the Broads.
