The fleet gathered at Berney Arms ready for a Skippers Briefing at 0850hrs. The plans for the day were discussed along with weather forecast and safety issues.
After a very windy week, the weather had changed just in time & the fleet headed out of Yarmouth in light winds & pleasant seas with just a little residual swell from earlier winds.
This was a low speed cruise allowing some less powerful boats to join us and we had several crews who had not been to sea before.
Once south of Lowestoft & in plenty of water, many of the boats went off for a play to test their performance before coming into line for entry into Southwold. As usual our 6.5 metre safety Rib was stationed at the harbour entrance to ensure everyone followed the correct course.
At 1600hrs the crews all gathered on Evita for a few drinks and to meet each other & exchange experiences.

On Saturday the children enjoyed some crabbing and scootering whilst the crews either relaxed or took in the sites of Southwold. Many of the crews later met up at the lovely Southwold Smokehouse on the harbour for a fish lunch, whilst others sampled the legendary Mrs T’s fish & chips or the towns other excellent restaurants.
Southwold Novice Cruise – 8-10th May 2015
With the forecast for Sunday afternoon predicting southerly force 4 with wind over tide conditions, we took the decision to leave early on the morning tide. The decision proved to be a good one with the fleet waking to a beautiful still morning & a very pleasant run back to Great Yarmouth with a 0930hrs Haven Bridge lift.
