Woodbridge / Ipswich Cruise – 2026

27 September 2026

Our September run to Woodbridge was over subscribed so we split the group of boats with some going to the Tidemill Marina on the River Deben at Woodbridge and six of the larger boats going to Ipswich Beacon Marina on the River Orwell.

Most of the fleet moored at either Berney Arms or Burgh Castle for the night of Sunday 13th September ready for a 0930 Haven Bridge lift on Monday morning.

A couple of boats dropped out at Breydon due to mechanical issues so 14 boats made their way down the coast at 20 knots in pleasant conditions to the Woodbridge Haven buoy some 40 miles south of Great Yarmouth. ‘Diva’ led the fleet over the Deben bar and into the river before turning round and heading to Ipswich. ‘Defender’, our support Rib escorted the fleet to Tidemill whilst the other boats locked into Ipswich.

We then had a few fun social days, the Ipswich crews took the train to Woodbridge to meet up with the others for some afternoon ‘refreshments’ on Tuesday.

We departed on Thursday, meeting up with the Woodbridge group in the Deben and then on to Lowestoft and the RNSYC. There was a brisk south westerly wind blowing but being south westerly the sea state was fairly benign.

We all got together for drinks & dinner in the club house.

The following morning we departed for the short run to Great Yarmouth and back on to the Broads.

This was our last cruise for the 2026 season. We expect to publish the diary for next season before Christmas.
